Meet Your Guides

Team Hikeu
Team Hikeu

Team Hikeu met in 2001 during their solo thru-hikes of the Appalachian Trail. As it is on the AT, they met each other, hiked together, lost each other and hooked back up several times during the course of their 2168 mile trek that year. They can’t recall ever hiking all together on the AT, but they all finished within a day of each other and have shared a special connection ever since. During their 2005 Pacific Crest Trail thru-hike the trio hiked about 75% of the Trail together. Happy and Badmoon finally aligned their mojo and became a couple during that trek!

Happy
Brenda Kerr “Happy”

Happy or Hap, as many people call her, is just that, happy! She earned her trailname early on the AT. While others were complaining about the cold, snow and rain, she just continued to have a great time! She feels the most alive walking in the woods with a pack on her back. She found her spirit on the AT and now knows her life purpose is to walk the earth. “The sensual stimulation of walking is my drug. It’s not so much about the beautiful vistas for me. I get a rush from the sight of wildflowers, the noise from a rushing brook, the smell of a spruce forest and the softness of a maple leaf between my fingertips.”
Hap is the planner and the organizer. She will be the primary Guide on most of the trips. She is also a Structural Integration practitioner. She can help you become more in touch with your body and assist you in an exploration of your body wisdom as you hike if that is your desire. You may very well return feeling more graceful than ever!

Badmoon
Reid Hardin “Badmoon”

Reid earned his trailname on the AT with a lackluster effort at mooning his fellow hikers. He has since matured and developed more articulate ways of expressing himself (yeah, right). Thru-hiking the AT and PCT scrambled his priorities in life to the point that he can no longer function in the normal workaday world. His abject failure as a member of productive society is your gain however as he is an excellent hiking companion and can entertain you with a wide range of interesting and irrelevant facts. And if that doesn’t move you he will be happy to make stuff up.
At Hikeu, he is responsible for creative visions and the written word. He also does most of the driving and provides the very important “ground-support” on our longer trips.

Phantom
Jonathan Ormsby “Phantom"

Phantom is the youngest member of Team Hikeu and still figuring out what he wants to do when he grows up. Just like the rest of the team, but he is still justified. He earned his trailname along the AT after repeatedly disappearing and reappearing to take advantage of the many side trails and overlooks found in the Southern Appalachians. Phantom has been backpacking since his youth as an Eagle Scout. Another point of distinction for Phantom is the fact that he hiked the entire AT without falling. He will continue in his Phantom-ly ways by appearing to assist with trek guiding and support as needed.
